Parent Education

The second Mission Statement of the PTA is:
  • To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children;

Our local PTSA chapter takes this mission statement very seriously.    Our chapter budgets money for parents to attend conferences.  Our chapter has worked cooperatively with other like minded organizations in this community to provide education forums, workshops, and conferences.   Our chapter shares parent education materials with community PTOs.    The research is conclusive,  the most accurate predictor of a student's achievement in school is not income or social status, but the extent to which that student's family  is involved in their children's education at school and in the community.  (1)    Our members try to provide education opportunities to parents so they feel more comfortable being involved in the children's education.
