Smith, Marcia Yockers, Sue Zach Correspondence:
Carol shared the materials that had been sent from the Department
of Education.
These materials related to activities that could be
initiated by public leaders, church leaders, school officials and
families. The main theme was
to increase excitement and enthusiasm about the start up of the school
year. It was decided to distribute these materials to
the above listed officials for use next school year. Elected officials, church council, and district
administrators. Carol shared materials from the WTAG
Association announcing their conference.
These materials will be shared with the district staff and Randy
Peelen. Carol shared the mailings regarding the State
PTA leadership training conference. Treasurer’s Report
The checking account is held at Bank One.
There is a balance of $1500.
A tentative budget was approved for 1997-98 as follows:
Operational funds $1000 Attendance
at the State PTA Leadership Conference: September 5th and 6th , in
Stevens Point.
Linda, Bill and Carol plan to attend. We
agreed to promote attendance by Membership Renewal It
was decided that we would try to increase membership by asking each member
to try and recruit at least one additional new member. A membership renewal letter along with a list of
membership campaign ideas, to be developed by Bill, will be sent to all
members. Extra generic form recruitment letters will be sent to all
members. Goals for the Coming School Year
Members in attendance voiced their goals for the next year.
Discussion ensued. Maintain at
least status quo. Add a
member from each school. Broadcast
the Satellite fed town meetings, preferably live.
Carol has already contacted the Cable Company and they are
cooperating.
Sue will have her plate full for the next year.
She is the President of the Bannach School PTO.
She will support us as a member, but will have little time for
projects. Sue sees a natural role for the PTSA to disseminate Family
Preservation project information to the schools.
Sue would also like to see the PTSA encouraging quality educational
programs to support more parent involvement at all ages.
Marcia will notify McKinley
and Roosevelt Schools to try and increase membership. Linda
has a full list of tasks and jobs at the present.
She will support activities and meetings when possible, but cannot
commit to leading a project at this time.
Linda would like to see more students involved in the PTSA.
Bill
wants to increase membership among parents, teachers, students and
businesses. Increase
PTSA involvement with computer clubs.
Expand PTSA web pages with staff directory.
Next Meeting Date
Next
meeting will be October 17th, 1997 at the National Wellness
Institute Building at noon.
Respectfully submitted by Bill Hettler, Secretary for the day.
