PTSA Board Meeting

I. Treasurer Report: Bill H. motioned and Sheryl C. seconded to move PTSA account to Pineries Bank. The service fee is $5.00/month unless the account has a minimum of $2,000.00. Passed

  1. Reflection: Barbara Minges did a great job coordinating Reflections. There were 31 entries this year. Next year a permission form for Internet publication needs to be attached to the entry form. Carol is contact all families requesting permission to put artwork on the PTSA web page. The PTSA will sponsor four entries from Jackson School.

    III. Copy Machine: Bill H. motioned and Sheryl C. seconded that PTSA utilized the donated copy machine from E.O. Johnson for one year. Passed

  1. Technology Funds: Sheryl C. motioned and Colette Swiech seconded motion to grant $200.00 for additional technology purchases. Funds will be used to maintain the PTSA computer recycling program with UWSP to distribute used computers to grade schools.

    V.  Correspondence:

    Teleconference: PTSA will purchase the first conference "Where is the public in public education." Will evaluate the program for usefulness to determine if future programs will be purchased. PTSA can use programs for future meetings, CA3 re-broadcast, community forums. Colette will order the first show.

    Wellness at the Mall: Decided to not host a booth at this years event.

    State Conference: Bill H. and Carol W. are planning to attend. Will take books from Bannach School for Miles of Smiles program and will pick up Reflection work. Anyone else interested in attending?

    National Conference: This year in Oregon – next year Chicago. It would be nice to send a contingent of people to the National conference in Chicago. Will bring up as an agenda item at future meeting – how much could PTSA fund for attending national conference.

    Legislative Conference: Carol W. is attending this conference. She has an appointment with chief aid for Alberta Darling, chair of Education Commission, to discuss Stevens Point Budget and school funding.

  1. Community forum on Saturday, January 30th 9:30 – 11:30 at library is set. "School Funding Everybody’s Business." Please come.
  2. Next Council meeting is January 26, 7:00 pm at Roosevelt school. Emery Babcock will be guest.
  3. Mid-year review. Discussed developing a collaborative relationship with WEAC. Carol talked with John Knowlton, president, about contacting teachers to see how they would like information about themselves presented on the PTSA web page. Carol mentioned the possibility of WEAC utilizing the PTSA web page to get information out. Carol will contact John to see what WEAC’s board thought of these ideas.

Discussed need to have more information in the local paper on PTSA. Sue Droeshe from the Wellness Institute can help us with ideas and press releases.

Sheryl is interested in working with McKinley to get more information up on the PTSA pages. Carol and Sheryl will work together on this.

To promote the use of our web pages for families perhaps approaching PTO Council or Presidents about this service is the best way to get this service promoted.
