Stevens Point PTSA Year End Report
1997 -1998

July: General Meeting
Presented at Optimist Club meeting on the web pages students created for WeFair97.
August: Community Grant program promoted to allow interested parents to attend Leadership workshop.
September Seven PTSA members attended the State Leadership Conference.  PTSA sponsored one person's registration fee as part of our Community Grant Program.
Agreement with Marcus Cable made to record Satellite Town Meetings from Dept. of Ed.
P.J.Jacobs computer club established.
October General Meeting
Reflections material sent to district superintendent to be distributed district wide.
Purchased used computers from UWSP and given to Santha Bickford's class.
November Reflections Art program materials sent to all music and art teachers in district.  Marcia Yockers presented at PTO Council meeting on Reflections.
Gifted and Talented survey being being developed by Randy Peelen.
December Advising for web page development started.  Five teams of elementary students and three junior high students are developing web pages for WebFair and ThinkQuest JR competitions.
January Ten students participate in Reflections by submitting 12 entries.
General Meeting
February Subcommittee formed to investigate combining with PTO Council.
Worked with Washington School to provide "Miles of Smiles" book donation program for state wide distribution.
March Staffed a booth at the Portage County Wellness Commission's Celebrate Wellness at CenterPoint Mall.
Organized a computer set-up night for the mini-lab in Santha Bickford's class.
April General Meeting
Received word of three students winning state honors in the Reflections Art Program
May Presented at State Convention on our community PTSA.
Hosted Reflections winners and families at the State Reflections Luncheon.
Delivered 20 boxes of books at State Convention for Miles of Smiles program.
Sponsored a technology fair at PJ Jacobs.
Five student web sties received "Distinguished Honors Awards" from WebFair98.
Received more computers from UWSP to set up mini labs in classrooms.
Voted to combine meetings with PTO Council for 1998 -1999 school year.
June Student Reflections winners recognized at Kiwanis Luncheon
Staffed a booth with League of Women Voters Sesquicentennial Celebration
Survey for Gifted and Talented students went out with report cards.
