INTERVIEW WITH MRS. HANDRICH
BY IAN & FORREST

Mrs.H2.jpg (2648 bytes)

We asked Mrs. Handrich about her favorite things. She told us a lot! To begin with she told us her favorite cheescake flavor is Turtle Cheescake and her favorite ice cream flavor is peanut butter fudge. She likes chocolate, too. Her favorite holiday is Christmas because of the religious significance, not for the presents.

She has some other favorites things, also. Here is a list of some of her other favorite things:

Favorite color: Azure blue,

Favorite book: Tuesdays with Morrie,

Favorite children’s authors: E.B. White and Beverly Cleary,

Favorite age: 24-That’s when she had her first baby.

Favorite song: Pachebel’s Canon,

Favorite number: 16,

Favorite fruits: Pineapple and blueberries,

Favorite juice: Freshly squeezed orange juice,

Favorite tree: Apple tree, and

Favorite plant: Christmas Cactus.

She likes the U.S.A because it is a democratic country and we enjoy many freedoms that other people in other countries still don"t have. She has lived in Germany and other parts of the United States, as well as Hawaii. She really enjoys teaching here at Jackson School. She began teaching in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, over 20 years ago. She has taught in Okemos, Michigan, and Naperville, Illinois, too.

Seeing a student excited about learning is what she likes best about teaching. She would like each of her students to feel good about themselves and try to do their best. She also thinks showing respect for each other is a very important lesson in life. She especially appreciates it when a former student comes back to visit her or sends her mail or a card.

Mrs. Handrich lives with her husband in the country near Sunset Lake. Even though she was born on Long Island in New York, she likes some peace and quiet in a country setting. Both of her children are in college and working. Her daughter, Jennifer, is an account executive for J.W. Thompson Advertising Agency in Chicago. She will be receiving her MBA degree from Loyola in January. Her son, Paul, is a senior at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

Mr. Coffman, Our Principal
By Dan

This is a picture of our principal, Mr. Coffman. It is his third year at Jackson School. He likes his job very much. He can play the trombone pretty well.

Mr. Coffman does not always look like this. He dressed like this for one whole day because the boys and girls met our PTO fund-raiser goal. He caused quite a bit of mischief that day!
